___________________________ Puffins of Skellig Michael In Puffins of Skellig Michael students follow filmmaker Vincent Hyland as he uncovers the secrets of Puffins nesting on Skellig Rock. Each summer these endearing "painted beauty" seabirds come ashore to nest on the precipitous ledges of Islands around Ireland and the coasts of Northern Europe. Threatened by predators such as Gulls, Skuas and rats and over fishing by humans of their food staple - the Sand eel - the Atlantic Puffin has a hard time ensuring the safe fledging of their young offspring. This is their story. Activities such as "Cause and effect" will help students understand consequences of actions and open their minds as to why it is so important to protect living things throughout the world. The Flipchart covers a range of in depth Pedagogy skillsets. |
